CMRL invites tender for Feasibility Study of Madurai Metro Project

Madurai, India (Metro Rail Today): Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) invites global e-tender Request For Proposal (RfP) for the selection of consultant for preparation of feasibility study report for the introducing a Mass Rapid Transit System in Madurai city.

The study will involve identifying routes along which the urban rail transit network would be built and analyse the feasibility of establishing a metro rail system or any other alternative option based on passenger traffic movement and travel demand. The consultant will have to examine available reports of previous studies, plans CMP report and other related transportation scenarios of Madurai metropolitan region, collect primary transport network inventory.

A Pre-bid meeting has been scheduled on November 20,2021 at 11 AM at CMRL Admin Building, Chennai.

N.Jegatheesan, (president of Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry) said “It should connect all four directions from Melur to Tirumangalam and from Thirubuvanam to Checkanurani to cater to the growing needs of the congested city at least for the next 20 years as per with the city’s master plan.

In march 2021, members of of Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry had raised their voice to launch metro rail transit system in Madurai. They said that introduction of metro rail services will help to address the present traffic issues.
