Madurai, India (India): The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has opened the financial bids of DPR consultancy contract package of the proposed Madurai Metro Rail project (MRTS system) on 23rd March 2023.
As per the financial bid result, Hyderabad-based cosultancy firm Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers & Consultants Pvt. Ltd. emerged as the lowest bidder for providing consultancy services for Preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Mass Rapid Transit System in Madurai. A total of four firms submitted their bids against the tender notice issued in February 2023.

Tender notice for selection of Consultant for Preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Mass Rapid Transit System in Madurai was issued in February 2023 with an estimated cost of Rs 3 crore and 75 days completion deadline. Technical bids were opened in first week of March 2023.
The Detailed Feasibility Report (DFR) of the project was prepared by Balaji Railroad Systems Limited (BARSYL) in November 2022 recommending 31 kilometres metro rail systems in Madaurai. The proposed metro rail system will start from Thirumangalam and end with Othakadai. A total of 20 metro stations have been propsed by the BARSYL and a train maintenance depot on a 45 acre site at Thirumangalam.
An elevated track is planned between Othakadi and Goripalayam, and from Goripalayam to Vasantha Nagar, an underground line is planned. Another elevated line is planned between Vasantha Nagar to Thirumangalam.
