CG Power bags contract to supply railway products for manufacturing of Vande Bharat Trainsets

Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd. (CG), a leading engineering conglomerate in the electrical engineering industry, has announced a significant long-term supply agreement with M/s Kinet Railway Solutions Limited. This partnership will see CG supply and service critical railway products, including propulsion kits with motors, transformers, and various other components, for the manufacturing of Vande Bharat trainsets.

As part of this agreement, CG has secured its first purchase order, valued between ₹400 crores to ₹450 crores, for the supply of railway products for 10 Vande Bharat trainsets. Additionally, the contract includes a 35-year service order, solidifying CG’s long-term commitment to the Indian railway sector.

With over 86 years of expertise, CG has built a robust presence in the railway industry. The company’s diverse portfolio includes traction machines and systems, complete railway propulsion systems, and railway signalling products. Recently, CG has expanded its offerings to include the Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), also known as KAVACH, further strengthening its position in the sector.

Headquartered in Mumbai, CG operates 18 state-of-the-art manufacturing plants across India and one in Sweden, with a broad network of offices and approximately 3,113 employees. In the fiscal year 2024, the company reported a consolidated revenue of ₹8,046 crores (USD 964 million). Since joining the Murugappa Group in November 2020, CG has continued to excel in its fields, driven by a customer-centric approach, innovation, and a commitment to sustainability.

This new deal is a significant milestone for CG Power, reinforcing its leadership in India’s railway and industrial sectors and further supporting the country’s ambitious railway modernization plans.
