Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (Metro Rail Today): In a landmark move, the China Association of Metros, Guangzhou Metro Group, and the Ho Chi Minh City Management Authority for Urban Railways have forged a strategic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOU) in Guangzhou, Guangdong province. This collaboration aims to lend support to Ho Chi Minh City's ambitious plans for developing a new urban railway system.
The tripartite agreement outlines a shared commitment to establishing common objectives, facilitating research, and implementing a development strategy for the urban railway system in Ho Chi Minh City. This includes a comprehensive plan for constructing a new urban railway system by the year 2035.
Key components of the cooperation involve the sharing of China's extensive experience and solutions in the preliminary planning of urban rail transit. The parties will also collaborate in knowledge sharing and talent development, fostering a collaborative environment. Additionally, there will be cooperation in the sharing of construction technology, as outlined in the MOU.
As the largest port city and economic center in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City is currently witnessing substantial acceleration in urban rail construction. The city's ambitious goal is to finalize the construction of a new urban railway network by 2035, featuring 11 lines covering a total distance of 225 kilometers.
Guangzhou Metro, established in 1992, stands as a testament to China's global expertise in metro systems. The company has successfully provided design, supervision, operation, consultation, training, and information services in over 100 cities, both domestically and internationally. Noteworthy overseas projects include the operation service of the Orange Line in Lahore, Pakistan, the rolling stock manufacturing supervision of the Blue Line Light Rail in Lagos, Nigeria, and the full-process management and technical assistance service of the East Line Light Rail in Macao.
