CMRL opens Financial bids for track supply contract for Chennai Metro Phase 2

Chennai, India (Metro Rail Today): The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) last week opened the financial bids of contract package CP18A-ATW-09 and CP18B-ATW-12 for supply of Ballastless Track for Corridor 3 and Corridor 5 respectively.

Contract Package CP18A-ATW-09/2022

As per the financial bids result of contract package CP18A-ATW-09, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T) emerged as lowest bidder for Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Ballastless track of Standard Gauge Including All Associated Works in Underground and Elevated Section from Madhavaram Milk Colony to Sholinganallur of Corridor 3 (45.813 km) of Chennai Metro Rail Project, Phase 2.

A total of three bidders namely Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd., and Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd. had participated in this contract package.

The final quoted value of L&T is not yet disclosed. However, the estimated cost of the work was Rs 267 crore according to CMRL. 

Contract Package CP18B-ATW-12/2022

As per the financial bids result of contract package CP18B-ATW-12, KEC International – Vijay Nirman Company JV emerged as lowest bidder for Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Ballastless track of Standard Gauge Including All Associated Works in Underground and Elevated Section from Madhavaram Milk Colony to Sholinganallur of Corridor 5 (47 km) of Chennai Metro Rail Project, Phase 2.

A total of four bidders namely KEC International – Vijay Nirman Company JV, Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (L&T), Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL), and Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd. had participated in this contract package.

The final quoted value of KEC-VNC JV is not yet disclosed. However, the estimated cost of the work was Rs 194 crore according to CMRL. 

Tender notice for both contract packages were issued in January 2022 and technical bids were opened in June 2022. Financial bids were opened on 20th August 2022.

Now all bids have been sent for final evaluation by the tender commitee.

Earlier, L&T was awarded an contract worth Rs 339.63 crore for supply of tracks for the Line-3’s elevated sections of Corridor 3 (Sholinganallur – SIPCOT) and Corridor 5 (CMBT - ELCOT).
