Chennai, India (Metro Rail Today): Swedish original equipment manufacturer of train connection systems Dellner Couplers AB has announced that Dellener India has received an order to supply the Indian Railways with intercar couplers for their new Vande Bharat Express, also known as Train 18.

The Indian Government announced the plan to produce 400 Vande Bharat Express trains by 2025, mainly by ICF and some trains at Modern Coach Factory (MCF), in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh and others at Rail Coach Factory (RCF) Kapurthala, in Punjab. Dellner India has been the sole supplier of intercar couplers fitted on these Vande Bharat Trains, and with this second-order placed in February, we are looking forward to the target of 400 trains by 2025.

"At Dellner, we are proud to contribute to the "Make in India" initiative. Through our Dellner India facility in Chennai, we support the Indian Government in achieving its goals to empower local production and create more jobs opportunities for Indians," said the statement.

The Vande Bharat Express is an Indian semi-high-speed intercity EMU train operated by the Indian Railways. The first train was designed and manufactured by Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Perambur, Chennai, under the Indian Government's "Make in India" initiative, over 18 months in February 2019.

The Vande Bharat Express is designed to run at a maximum speed of 200 km per hour, making it the fastest train in India.
