Gurugram Metro to begin construction on Cyber City Extension Line by mid-2025

Gurugram, India (Metro Rail Today): The Gurugram Metro extension project is set to move forward with construction expected to begin by mid-2025. According to senior officials from Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL), the project will be developed in two phases, with the first tenders for civil construction and general consulting slated to be issued by February 2025.

The civil construction of the Gurugram Metro extension will be executed in two phases. The first phase will cover the extension from the Millennium City Centre to Sector 9, while the second phase will extend the metro line from Sector 9 to Cyber City. GMRL officials have confirmed that tenders for both these phases are expected to be floated by the end of February next year. Construction work for the metro extension is likely to commence by mid-2025, marking a significant step towards improving connectivity in the rapidly growing city of Gurugram.

In addition to the metro extension work, the authorities will also issue a tender for hiring a detailed design consultant for the construction of the metro depot. Initially planned for Sector 101, the depot will now be built on government-owned land in Sector 33, a location that has been chosen due to its strategic advantages and availability of space for the project.

On December 24, 2024, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is scheduled to chair a review meeting to assess the progress of the Gurugram metro extension project. This meeting will be crucial in ensuring that the project stays on track and meets its planned timelines.
