KEC wins ₹209 crore electrification contract for Delhi Metro Phase 4

New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC) on 23rd August 2022 opened the financial bids for the electrification contract package DE-02. As per the financial bids result shared by DMRC, KEC International Ltd emerged as the lowest bidder by beating other three bidders.

Tender for the Design, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of 25 kV Overhead Equipment (OHE), 33 kV Auxiliary Power Supply for Elevated Corridors and SCADA System for both Elevated and Underground Corridors comprising a length of 65.1 km under Delhi Metro MRTS Phase-IV was invited in February 2022. Technical bids were opened in May 2022.

In reposne to the tender notice, a total of four bidders submitted their bids for the above work. The financial position of each bidder is as under:-

  • KEC International Ltd: Rs 209 crore (L1)
  • Siemens Ltd: Rs 216 crore (L2)
  • Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd: Rs 222 crore (L3)
  • Larsen & Toubro Ltd: Rs 292 crore (L4)

Now all bids have been sent for final evaluation by the tender commitee.

KEC International Limited is an Indian multinational company and also India's second largest manufacturer of electric power transmission towers and one of the largest Power transmission, Engineering, Procurement and Construction companies in the world. KEC is subsidiary company of RPG Group.

The Delhi Metro Phase-IV corridor comprises a total of 65.1 km network - Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg (28.92 km), Majlis Park to Maujpur (12.55 km), which are extensions of the already operational Magenta Line and Pink Line respectively, and Tughalakabad to Aerocity (23.62 km) which is being built as 'Silver Line'.
