Bhubaneshwar, India (Metro Rail Today): Urban infrastructure in Odisha received a significant boost with the state government allocating ₹9,603 crore for urban transformation in the 2024-25 budget. A major highlight is the Bhubaneswar metro project, which has been granted Rs 1,000 crore to facilitate its development.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized the importance of this state-of-the-art rapid rail system, which aims to create seamless, efficient, and sustainable urban mobility. In its first phase, the metro will connect Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar with Trisulia Square in Cuttack by 2027. This phase of the project is estimated to cost ₹6,256 crore.
