Pune, India (Metro Rail Today): Structcon Designs Pvt. Ltd. was awarded the Proof Checking Consultant contract for the Pune Metro’s Purple Line extension from PCMC to Nigdi’s Bhakti Shakti on 9th September 2024. This contract, issued by the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (MMRCL), involves the vital task of validating the detailed structural designs for the 4.52-kilometer viaduct portion of Pune Metro Phase 1A.
Structcon will collaborate closely with Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL), the civil contractor responsible for constructing the viaduct. The scope of Structcon’s responsibilities includes rigorous proof checking of the structural designs for both the substructure and superstructure of the viaduct. This encompasses reviewing designs for open, pile, and well foundations, as well as elements such as piers, pier caps, pedestals, and any other related structures up to the pedestal level.

MMRCL had called for bids for this contract in June 2024, with a deadline of two years for completion. The technical bids were opened on July 1, revealing four contenders: LKT Engineering Consultants, Shirish Patel and Associates Consultants, Spectrum Techno Consultants, and Structcon Designs. The construction of four elevated metro stations at Chinchwad, Akurdi, Nigdi, and Bhakti Shakti is currently under bidding for Package P1A-C-02.
