Pune, India (Metro Rail Today): STUP Consultants – RITES Joint Venture (JV) has been awarded a contract worth ₹2.92 crore to provide Detailed Design Consultancy (DDC) services for Pune Metro’s Phase 1 Extension (Phase 1A) project. This significant development was finalized last Friday.
The DDC-03 package involves the design of 13 new elevated stations along Pune Metro’s Aqua Line (Line-2), which is set to be extended in both directions:
MahaMetro initiated the bidding process for Package DDC-03 in July 2023. Following the opening of technical bids in August, three bidders were evaluated, with two qualifying and one disqualified. The qualified bidders were:
The financial bids were opened on October 7, revealing the awarded contract value of ₹2,92,50,000 (excluding GST).
With this award, MahaMetro has now finalized its team of three Detailed Design Consultants for the Phase 1 Extension project. The other two contracts awarded are:
DDC-01: For 3 elevated stations at Chinchwad, Akurdi, and Nigdi – awarded to LKT Engineering.
DDC-02R: For architectural and electrical & mechanical services along the Swargate to Katraj corridor – awarded to PINI Group.
The awarding of the DDC-03 contract to STUP – RITES JV marks a significant milestone in the expansion of Pune Metro's infrastructure. With a clear plan in place, these extensions are expected to enhance connectivity within the city and improve public transportation for its residents, aligning with the broader goals of urban mobility and sustainable development.
