UP Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna announced that the Cabinet has authorized the free transfer of land from the Horticulture and Food Processing Department to the Housing and Urban Planning Department for the first metro corridor. A total of 8,684.68 square meters of land will be leased for 90 years at a nominal token rate of Rs 1, with provisions for renewal every 30 years.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the transfer of 20,753 square meters of land from the Home Department for the second corridor of the Agra Metro. This land, too, will be leased under similar terms for a 90-year period.
The Agra Metro project continues to gain momentum with the successful completion of key milestones. The Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) 'Yamuna' has achieved its fourth breakthrough at the S.N. Medical College Station, marking a significant progress in the construction of the underground section of the balance corridor. This achievement underscores the rapid pace at which the project is progressing.
According to an official statement from Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRCL), work on the underground stations of the balance section, including Medical College, Agra College, Raja ki Mandi, and RBS College, is advancing swiftly. With this recent breakthrough, tunnel work for the up line from Agra College to S.N. Medical College has now been successfully completed.
The completion of these phases brings Agra closer to its vision of a modern, efficient metro system, enhancing connectivity and offering a safer, faster, and more convenient mode of transport for residents and visitors alike.
