DB E&C–SYSTRA India JV Sign General Consultancy Contract for Pune Metro Phase 1 Extn and Phase 2

The consultancy contract will support the planning, design, systems integration, project management and construction supervision of more than 54 kilometres of new metro lines, reinforcing Pune's vision of developing a comprehensive, sustainable and future-ready urban transit network.

The agreement was formally signed by Nataraj K. M., Executive Director – India, DB Engineering & Consulting, on behalf of the consortium.

Pune Metro Network Set for Major Expansion

Under the project, the Phase-1 Extensions will add 23.06 kilometres of new metro corridors with 21 stations across four important stretches connecting rapidly developing residential and commercial areas of Pune.

The proposed extensions include PCMC–Nigdi, Swargate–Katraj, Vanaz–Chandni Chowk, and Ramwadi–Wagholi, which are expected to improve accessibility and reduce travel time for thousands of daily commuters.

In addition, Phase-2 of Pune Metro will introduce two fully elevated corridors spanning 31.64 kilometres with 28 stations.

These include the Khadakwasla–Swargate–Hadapsar–Kharadi Corridor and the Nal Stop–Warje–Manik Baug Corridor, further expanding metro connectivity to key residential hubs, educational institutions, commercial centres and emerging growth corridors across the metropolitan region.

Once completed, the new corridors will substantially strengthen both North–South and East–West connectivity while encouraging greater public transport adoption and reducing dependence on private vehicles.

Global Expertise to Support Project Delivery

As General Consultant, the DB E&C–SYSTRA India consortium will provide comprehensive consultancy services throughout the project lifecycle.

The scope includes project planning, engineering design review, systems integration, construction supervision, quality assurance, project management, safety monitoring and technical advisory services to ensure efficient and timely execution of the metro expansion programme.
