NCRTC installs 10 Launching Gantries for construction of RRTS and MRTS in Meerut

Meerut, India (Metro Rail Today): In the bustling city of Meerut, the wheels of progress are turning as the construction endeavors of the Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) and Meerut Metro gain momentum on the 82 km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has recently taken a significant stride by installing 10 launching gantries, with an additional 2 gantries poised for deployment. This move is instrumental in expediting the construction of the viaduct, marking a crucial step towards enhancing regional connectivity in Meerut.

The Meerut section of the corridor spans a length of 23 km, stretching from Meerut South RRTS station to Modipuram depot. Of this expanse, 18 km is elevated, while the remainder is underground. The ongoing efforts have completed viaduct construction in over 11 km of the elevated section, with rapid progress now focused on the remaining 7 km.

In pursuit of efficiency, NCRTC adopts the use of pre-cast segments for viaduct construction, employing the assistance of Tarini. The strategic placement of piers at intervals of approximately 34 meters facilitates the construction process. At locations where this distance exceeds 34 meters, special steel spans are strategically installed to further the viaduct construction.

For the convenience of Meerut commuters, the construction includes 4 RRTS stations and 13 Meerut Metro stations within Meerut. These encompass Meerut South, Shatabdi Nagar, Begumpul (underground), and Modipuram RRTS stations, offering a seamless convergence of RRTS and Meerut Metro services. Additional Meerut Metro stations, including Partapur, Rithani, Brahmapuri, Meerut Central (Underground), Bhainsali (Underground), MES Colony, Daurali, Meerut North, and Modipuram Depot, will enhance accessibility, serviced by three-coach metro trains.

The civil construction work at Meerut South, Partapur, Rithani, and Shatabdi Nagar stations nears completion, with the focus now shifting to finishing touches. Concurrently, the erection of prefabricated roofs has commenced in these elevated stations. Progress is equally remarkable in the underground stations of Meerut, with construction reaching its final stages and track-laying activities now underway. It is noteworthy that the construction of the tunnel, connecting the three underground stations of Meerut, has reached completion, with the ongoing installation of tracks.

As Meerut steadily transforms into a nexus of advanced urban transportation, the concerted efforts of NCRTC and the implementation of advanced construction methodologies lay the groundwork for a future where seamless connectivity and efficient transit redefine the city's landscape.
