RINA awarded DPR consultancy contact for 37-km Sarjapur Road-Hebbal Metro Corridor

Bengaluru, India (Metro Rail Today): The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) has recently awarded a contract to RINA Consulting SpA for preparation of detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed 37-km metro corridor connecting Sarjapur Road to Hebbal via Agara, Koramangala and Dairy Circle. This corridor is part of Phase 3 of Bangalore Metro Rail Project.

The draft DPR for two elevated corridors of Phase-3 was prepared by RITES Ltd and submitted to BMRCL. These two lines are covering a total length of 44.65 km wih 31 metro stations and will be bult at an estimated to cost of Rs13,500 crore.

Corridor 1 will run for 32.15 km along the west of Outer Ring Road from J P Nagar IVth phase to Kempapura with 22 stations. Corridor Two runs from Hosahalli to Kadabgere on Magadi Road will run for 12.5 km with 9 stations.

During his budget speech 2021-22, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai had announced Sarjapur Road - Hebbal metro corridor. "Action will be taken to prepare Detailed Project Report in the year 2022-2023 for construction of a new 37 km long new Metro line connecting Sarjapura to Hebbal through Agara, Koramangala and Diary Circle at an estimated cost of ₹15,000 crore," he said during his speech. This line will be executed as part of Phase 3 or will be taken up separately.

Tender notice for selection of consultant to prepare a Detailed Project Report for the Sarjapur-Hebbal line was issued in April 2022. The scope of the work includes the preparation of a detailed Project Report (DPR) for Metro Rail Corridor of length 37 km connecting Sarjapur to Hebbal via Agra, Koramangala and Dairy Circle.

RINA will provide a baseline of the line’s length, underground & elevated route composition, number of stations, their locations, depot, coach requirement, ridership projection, operational game plan, total cost etc. The DPR preparation is expected to be complete in 8 months.

The proposed line will conenct Hebbal to Sarjapur with 29 metro stations at Hebbal, Veterinary College, Gangenahalli, Mekri Circle, Palace, Guttahalli, Cunningham Road, Basaveshwara Circle, Central College, Town Hall, Wilson Garden, Nimhans, Dairy Circle, Sudduguntepalya Koraman, St.Johns Hospital, Gala, Jakkasandra, Agara, Ibbalur, Bellandur Gate, Kaikondrahalli, Doddakanalli Gate,Carmelaram, Ambedkar Nagar, Kodati, Sulikunte, Muthanallur Cross, Dommasandra Circle, Sompura and Sarjapur.
