Bengaluru, India (Metro Rail Today): Bengaluru is thinking about introducing the country's third eco-friendly electric bus system to connect Electronics City with Bangalore Metro Rail Network.
The Electronics City Industrial Township Authority (ELCITA) is now planning to come up with a Metro Neo system connecting two upcoming stations on Namma Metro's Yellow Line (RV Road-Bommasandra Metro Corridor) and companies for last-mile connectivity.
The proposed 5-km long Metro Neo system will be called 'Tech Halli Express'. According to the plan, it will connect Infosys Foundation to Electronics City Metro Station (Namma Metro) with 10 stations at Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara Station, Timken, Velankani, 3M India, Phase-3, Wipro, Infosys, Interflex Electronics, Happiest Minds, Electronics City Metro Station in Phase 1.
The Metro Neo, a trolleybus system with overhead electric traction, can run on elevated or at-grade cement roads. The electric trolley bus can carry 250 passengers on the dedicated road at a speed of 60kmph.
This will be the third proposed Metro Neo system in the Country after Nashik (Maharashtra) and Warangal (Telangana).
