Ahmedabad Metro is a Mass Rapid Transport System (MRTS) that connects Ahmedabad and Gandinagar cities of Gujarat state to provide smart and sustainable public transportation facilities. The phase 1 comprising of 40.3 km (two corridors) was approved by Central Government cabinet on 19th October 2014 with an estimated cost of Rs 10,773 crore. The foundtion stone of first phase of Ahmedabad Metro was laid down by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 14th March 2015.
