Ashwini Bhide again appointed as Managing Director of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation

Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today):  The leadership & management of Mumbai Metro's Line-3 (Colaba-Bandra-Seepz) has once again been handed over to Mrs. Ashwini Bhide, IAS. New Maharashtra Government has issued orders giving Mrs. Bhide an additional charge to act as Managing Director of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MMRC).

There was a lot of controversy over the issue of the Aarey car shed being handed over to Ashwini Bhide, but now that the Shinde BJP government has come to power, the Mumbai Metro has been handed over to her once again.

Devendra Fadnavis started the Mumbai Metro project when the Shiv Sena - BJP alliance government was in power. But when the Mahavikas Aghadi government came to power, Bhide was replaced by Ranjit Singh Deol, but now that the BJP is back in power, Bhide has been given the reins of the metro project. She has been given additional charge as the Managing Director of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation and orders have been issued today.

Mumbai Metro was the BJP's dream project in Maharashtra. BJP had announced this project when the BJP-Shiv Sena government was in power. At that time, Ashwini Bhide was selected as the Managing Director of the project, but later she was removed when the Mahavikas Aghadi government came to power in 2019. Now again, the Shinde government has appointed her as the chief of Mumbai Metro's Line 3.

Meanwhile, the issue of the metro car shed was discussed. She was replaced by the then Thackeray government due to Shiv Sena's opposition to the Metro carshed at Aarey, but discussions have been rife that the car shed will resume after her appointment.
