The new contract also includes signaling, telecommunication, and five years of comprehensive maintenance, reinforcing Titagarh’s growing leadership in the Indian rolling stock and urban mobility sector.

The new driverless metro trainsets, built with stainless-steel car bodies, will feature modern, energy-efficient designs that prioritize passenger comfort, operational reliability, and safety.
This marks Titagarh Rail Systems’ second major contract from MMRDA, following its earlier order for Mumbai Metro Line 6.

Total Stations: 15
Length: 24.9 km
Connectivity: Links with other metro corridors and the suburban railway network
Expected Opening: Phase 1 operations are anticipated by 2027
Once operational, the line will reduce travel time by up to 75% between Thane and Kalyan, offering seamless connectivity across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
A spokesperson from Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd. stated that this order reflects the company’s commitment to advancing India’s metro ecosystem through indigenous design, manufacturing, and innovation.
