Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant boost to its Urban Mobility portfolio, Aurionpro Solutions Ltd. has secured a ₹250 crore contract from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for designing, supplying, implementing, and maintaining the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system for Mumbai Metro Lines 4 and 4A.
The contract marks a major milestone in Mumbai’s mass transit development and reaffirms Aurionpro’s growing dominance in India's smart mobility sector. The scope of the project includes delivery of a complete AFC system—ranging from ticketing infrastructure to central clearing software and five years of post-deployment maintenance.
Aurionpro’s success in Mumbai follows recent AFC system wins for Delhi Metro and Chennai Metro, placing the company at the forefront of metro rail fare technology in India’s three largest urban centres.
“This is a prestigious and special win for us, and we are thankful to MMRDA for placing its trust in Aurionpro,” said Sanjay Bali, President & Global Head – Tech Innovation Group (TIG) at Aurionpro.
“We are proud to be part of a project that can transform connectivity in the country’s financial capital. With this, Aurionpro continues to deliver end-to-end AFC systems developed indigenously, including NCMC-enabled card readers and automated gates—made in India.”
Aurionpro will implement the full suite of fare collection infrastructure, including the Central Clearing House Software (CCHS) to facilitate smooth, secure, and scalable transaction processing across Mumbai Metro’s ticketing ecosystem.
Mumbai Metro Lines 4 and 4A, spanning key corridors between Wadala and Kasarvadavali, are part of the city’s broader plan to modernize urban transportation and reduce reliance on road-based travel. Once operational, the lines are expected to drastically cut commute times and contribute to emission reductions in one of the world’s most congested cities.
The AFC system will ensure a cashless, card-based, and mobile-friendly travel experience, integrating with India’s National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) framework and paving the way for account-based ticketing in the future.
Mrs. Mamta Shah, MD & CEO of Urban Infra Group, praised the development, stating, "Mumbai Metro’s adoption of a fully indigenised, future-ready fare collection system is a defining moment for India’s urban mobility ecosystem. Aurionpro’s end-to-end offering is not just about ticketing—it’s about delivering seamless, secure, and scalable commuter journeys. As metro networks grow across India, such integrated digital infrastructure will play a critical role in enhancing user experience and operational resilience."
Aurionpro’s AFC and smart mobility solutions are deployed not just in India, but also across international markets. The company’s portfolio includes:
Account-based and EMV open-loop ticketing systems
SaaS-based Pay-as-You-Go models
Mobility management platforms and passenger apps
AFC hardware for metro, BRT, bus, ferry, and multimodal systems
This diverse experience allows Aurionpro to tailor solutions to local needs while maintaining global standards in technology, compliance, and scalability.
The MMRDA contract positions Aurionpro as a pivotal technology enabler in India’s next-generation urban transit infrastructure. As Mumbai Metro prepares to scale operations on Lines 4 and 4A, Aurionpro’s integrated fare collection system will play a central role in ensuring smoother, smarter, and more efficient journeys for millions of daily commuters.
