New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has received bids from five leading infrastructure firms for the civil construction contract D2C-02, a major package under the Golden Line (Line-11) of Delhi Metro’s Phase 4 project. The package covers the bulk of an 8.385 km spur corridor connecting Saket G Block to Lajpat Nagar, a key extension that aims to improve east-west connectivity across South Delhi.
Bidding for this contract closed in mid-April 2025, nearly 13 months after the Central Government approved the spur’s construction. The contract D2C-02 is valued at Rs. 456.06 crore and carries a deadline of 36 months (3 years) for completion. It will be financed through equity contributions from both the Government of India and Government of Delhi, along with other DMRC funding sources.
The five firms that have submitted bids for this high-stakes contract are:
Ceigall India Ltd.
H.G. Infra Engineering Ltd.
PNC Infratech Ltd.
Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL)
Sam India Builtwell Pvt. Ltd.
The scope of work for Package D2C-02 includes the construction of a 7.298 km elevated viaduct and platform-level structures for seven stations: Pushp Vihar, Saket District Court, Pushpa Bhawan, Chirag Delhi, Greater Kailash-1, Andrews Ganj, and Lajpat Nagar. The concourse levels for these stations will be awarded under a separate contract and positioned adjacent to the platform structures—an approach similar to the Kailash Colony Station on the Violet Line.
An interesting aspect of this corridor is its compact station design. With the exception of Pushp Vihar station, which will be 140 meters long, all stations are designed to be just 74 meters in length, accommodating only 3-coach trains. This design decision points toward cost optimization and lower ridership forecasts compared to other corridors.
The Golden Line, officially designated as Line-11, is one of the most anticipated lines in Phase 4 and will operate as a loop feeder corridor, enhancing last-mile access and reducing congestion along the busy Ring Road axis. The line will intersect with multiple major corridors, including the Violet, Pink, and Magenta Lines.
With technical bid evaluation now underway, it may take several weeks to months for DMRC to identify the technically qualified bidders. Once this phase is completed, financial bids will be opened to determine the lowest bidder and likely contractor.
This corridor’s alignment, particularly through Saket and Pushp Vihar, has seen several revisions over the past decade. DMRC has fine-tuned its design multiple times to address urban planning challenges and community feedback. These adjustments have been extensively documented in previous updates.
As Delhi Metro continues to push forward with Phase 4 development, the Saket–Lajpat Nagar spur stands out as a strategic urban connector, aimed at reducing travel time and increasing accessibility for commuters in densely populated neighborhoods.
