Larsen & Toubro signs ₹299 crore track contract for Chennai Metro Phase 2

Chennai, India (Metro Rail Today): The Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T) has signed a contract agreement with the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) for Contract Package CP18A-ATW-09 on 26th April 2023 in Chenani. The contract is part of JICA funding for Chennai Metro Phase-2 under Loan Agreement ID-P272. This is the last track tender awarded for CMRL Phase-II.

The Scope of the contract involves Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Ballastless Track of Standard Gauge including all associated Works in Underground and Elevated Section from Madhavaram Milk Colony to Shalinganallur of Corridor 3.

CMRL issued Letter of Acceptance to Larsen & Toubro Limited on 22nd December 2022 for an amount of Rs 299,46,86,979.00 (Excluding Provisional Sum and GST).

The Contract Agreement is signed by T. Archunan, Director (Projects) on behalf of CMRL and Sunil Khattar, Vice President, Head-Metro Business unit on behalf of L&T.

The 45.81 kilometres long Corridor 3 of Chennai Metro will connect Madhavaram Milk Colony to Siruseri Sipcot 2 with 47 stations. Out of, 19.09 km section will be elevated and 26.72 km will be underground.

The stations will come up at Madhavaram Milk Colony, Murari Hospital, Moolakadai, Sembiyam, Permabur Market, Perambur Metro, Ayanavaram, Otteri, Pattalam, Perambur Barracks Road, Purasawalkam High Road, Kellys, KMC, Chetpet Metro, Sterling Road Jn, Nungambakkam, Gemini, Thousand Lights, Royapettah Govt Hospital, Radhakrishnan Salai Jn, Thirumayilai Metro, Mandaiveli, Greenways Road Metro, Adyar Jn, Adayar Depot, Indira Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur Metro, Tharamani Link Road, Nehru Nagar, Kandanchavadi, Perungudi, Thoraipakkam, Mettukuppam, PTC Colony, Okkiyampet, Karapakkam, Okkiyam Thoraipakkam, Shozhinganallur, Sathyabama, Semmancheri, Gandhi Nagar, Navallur, Siruseri, Sipcot 1 and Sipcot 2.
