Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has recently opened the technical bids for the contract package CA-159 for supply of 6800 MT of head-hardened rails for Line 5 & 9 (Orange Line) of Mumbai Metro Rail Project.
As per the information shared by MMRDA, only Jindal Steel & Power Limited (JSPL) has submitted their bids to supply the HH Rails for the corridor 5 (Thane – Bhiwandi – Kalyan) and corridor 9 (Dahisar East – Mira Bhayander) of Mumbai Metro.
Tender notice for supply of 6800 MT 60E1 UIC 60 1080 Grade HH Rails were invited in November 2022 with an estimated cost of Rs 59,46,42,512/- and one year completion deadline. The HH Rail profile 60E1 (UIC60) manufactured according to European Standard EN 13674-1, mass 60,21 kg per meter.
The corridor 5 (Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan) of Mumbai Metro is being developed in two phases. Phase 1 will cover the metro route from Thane to Bhiwandi while Phase 2 will cover the other stretch from Bhiwandi to Kalyan. The 24.90 km line will connect Thane to Kalyan with 18 stations.
The 13.581 km long Line 9 is extension of Line 7 form Andheri to CSIA and Dahisar to Mira Bhayander with 10 stations.
