Bhopal, India (Metro Rail Today): The Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MPMRCL) is planning to adopt National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) for ticketing & payment in upcoming Bhopal and Indore Metro Rail Systems.
The NCMC card can be used for multiple purposes like a debit card along with paying the fare in the metro train. With this smart card, people will also be able to pay for city bus, parking, shopping, toll tax and other services. The NCMC card user can also enjoy cash back benefits on per transaction like online companies.
The card can be used for availing multiple services such as metro, bus, railway, toll, parking and other retail services. There will also be facility for online payment and withdrawal of money through this card. A portal will be launched for making 'One Nation One Card' before the operation of Bhopal and Indore Metro. After this, passengers can avail local train services, bus services, etc. through NCMC. Cashback offer will also be available in this card.
According to MP Metro officials, it can also be used for metro and services of other cities. However, in other cities, it can be used to pay for the same services which will be linked to the National Common Mobility Card. At present this facility is running only on the only route in Delhi Metro.
It is worth noting that people have to face many problems while traveling. For example, being upset due to lack of open money or sometimes money is stolen, or have to stand in long lines at the metro station. Keeping all these problems in mind, the metro company will start the NCMC card. Due to this, the passengers will not have to face the crowd and have to worry in the line.
The payment of fare will be done through NCMC card through Automatic Fare Collection Machine. All private and government banks will be able to issue cards with the National Common Mobility feature. But it will be important that with which bank the AFC machine operator contracts.
It will work like a contactless ATM card, as well as pay the fare for travel. Shopping can also be done along with city bus fares, toll tax and parking charges. In the coming days, the biggest advantage of this card will be that customers will not need to keep different types of cards.
