Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRC) announced the appointment of R. Ramana as Director (Planning & Real Estate Dev./NFBR) and Rajeev as Director (Systems and O&M) in MMRC.
Ramana has over three decades of experience in Urban Planning, Traffic, Transport and Regional Planning, Finance, and Implementation of Infrastructure and urban highway projects. Ramana has worked as Executive Director (Planning), MMRC for around 9 years handling implementation of Line-3 (Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ), land acquisition, Rehabilitation & Resettlement, Environment, and intermodal integration.
He was a key member in the planning of Mumbai Metro Master planning, Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and implementation of specific corridors of Mumbai Line 2 & 3 and also shouldered responsibility as Member in High Court committee, held several public consultation processes and External Examiner at IIT Bombay.
Rajeev started his career with Indian Railways in the year 1995 holding various important positions for over 20 years until February 2016. He has over three decades ofexperience in Railways and Metro Rail System, having knowledge of Rolling Stock,Overhead Traction, Power Supply, E & M etc.
In the past Rajeev has also worked for 5 years as Dy. Chief Vigilance Officer (Electrical), Central Railway. He then joined MMRC in March 2016 as General Manager (Rolling Stock) and later took charge as Executive Director (Rolling Stock), MMRC heading the department of Rolling Stock, Depot Plant & Equipment & Operations of MMRC and handling various other responsibilities.
MMRC is all set to began operations on first phase (BKC-Aarey) of Mumbai Metro's Aqua Line (Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ Corridor) by December 2023. Trial run of metro trains are underway.
Recently, MMRC signed a contract with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC) to operate and maintain the entire 33.5 km Aqua Line for a period of 10 years. The Aqua line will have a total of 27 stations.
