Amaravati, India (Metro Rail Today): India is all set to witness the rise of its largest and most advanced railway station near Amaravati — a project that symbolizes the next generation of smart, sustainable transport infrastructure.
Spread over 1,500 acres, the Amaravati Railway Station will feature 24 platforms and four terminals, capable of handling nearly 3 lakh passengers daily. With a total investment of ₹2,245 crore, the project aims to bring airport-grade design, modern technology, and seamless connectivity to Andhra Pradesh’s capital region.
Designed on the lines of a modern international airport, the upcoming station will include spacious waiting lounges, digital ticketing systems, automated entry gates, and smart energy-efficient infrastructure. The facility will also prioritize accessibility, cleanliness, and passenger convenience with advanced information systems and digital display networks.
The new station will efficiently cater to both passenger and freight traffic, supporting economic activities and logistics efficiency across South and East India.
The project includes the construction of a 57-km broad-gauge rail line and a 3.2-km bridge over the Krishna River, which will directly connect Amaravati with major cities such as Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.
Once operational, the station will serve as a central hub for long-distance and high-speed trains, strengthening regional connectivity and enhancing inter-state commerce.
Beyond infrastructure, the project is expected to generate thousands of jobs, attract private investment, and spur tourism and real estate growth in the Amaravati region. It is also envisioned to play a key role in Andhra Pradesh’s economic transformation under India’s broader Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
Construction is progressing rapidly, with teams targeting completion within the next two to three years.
Commenting on the development, Mrs. Mamta Shah, MD & CEO, Urban Infra Group, said:
“The Amaravati Railway Station represents India’s bold leap toward modern, passenger-centric mobility. By integrating sustainability, digital innovation, and large-scale design, Indian Railways is setting new standards for future-ready transport infrastructure. Projects like these not only redefine connectivity but also empower regional economies and communities.”
The Amaravati Railway Station will serve as a national model for multimodal integration, blending technology, comfort, and efficiency. It marks a new chapter in Indian Railways’ modernization journey — one that promises to make travel smoother, cleaner, and faster for millions.
With its scale and vision, the Amaravati project is not just a railway station — it’s a symbol of India’s infrastructure renaissance and the country’s commitment to shaping a smarter, more connected future.
