NCC bags balance civil work contract for Mumbai Metro Line 2B

Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has issued letter of acceptance (LoA) to NCC Ltd for contract package C-102 for construction of 5.868 km section (between MTNL – Chembur) of Mumbai Metro’s Line-2B (Yellow Line) on 6th April 2023.

The scope of work includes part design and construction of balance works of contract package CA06, Elevated Viaduct and 5 Elevated Stations viz. MTNL Metro, S.G. Barve Marg, Kurla East, EEH and Chembur (excluding Architectural Finishing and Pre-Engineered Steel Roof Structure of Stations) from Chainage 46860.384m to Chainage 52729.312 of Line 2B (D.N. Nagar-Mandale) of Mumbai Metro Rail Project.

Tender notice for the above contract package was issued in August 2021 with an estimated cost of work Rs 635.71 crore and 36 month. Three firms were submitted their bids for execution of balance civil work of package CA06. Financial bids were opened in October 2021. The financial positions of each bidder was as under:-

  • NCC Ltd: Rs 791.15 crore
  • J Kumar Infraprojects Ltd: Rs 813.32 crore
  • Tata Projects Ltd: Rs 826.47 crore

NCC Ltd was emerged as lowest bidder. 

This contract was originally awarded to RCC Infra Ventures – MBZ JV in 2017 and later it was terminated in January 2020 due to poor progress on key performance indicators.
