Dubai, UAE (Metro Rail Today): In a bold move to redefine the future of sustainable urban mobility, Railbus Inc. has unveiled the Railbus Development Hub, a strategic innovation centre that will anchor the company’s research, design, and engineering activities worldwide. This new facility is positioned as the nucleus of Railbus’s mission to deliver affordable, autonomous, and emission-free public transportation solutions, particularly for emerging and underserved urban markets.
Headquartered in Dubai, Railbus Inc. is an emerging technology company pioneering the development of ultra-light, solar-powered, rubber-tyred autonomous vehicles that operate on dedicated guideways. The new Development Hub is envisioned as a multidisciplinary command centre, where engineers, designers, software developers, and mobility experts will work together to accelerate product readiness and pilot deployments globally.
Dr. Samer Geissah, Co-Founder and CEO of Railbus Inc., stated, “The Railbus Development Hub will serve as a launchpad for intelligent, clean mobility solutions that are tailor-made for cities with limited transit infrastructure and growing environmental challenges. We are building not just a product, but a transformative ecosystem for urban mobility.”
The new hub will be responsible for:
Final design and engineering of Railbus vehicles and infrastructure.
Development of AI-based autonomous driving systems.
Prototyping and simulation testing using digital twin environments.
Integrating IoT, cloud, and mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) technologies.
Supporting commercial pilots and early deployments across MENA, Africa, South Asia, and Latin America.
Railbus vehicles are unique in their approach. They combine the low-cost efficiency of rubber tyres and lightweight materials with renewable energy sources like onboard solar power and battery storage. Designed for dedicated elevated tracks, Railbuses offer zero-emission, driverless, and scalable transport systems that are well-suited for congested cities with limited transit budgets.
Railbus Inc. has positioned itself at the intersection of green mobility, emerging market innovation, and autonomous transportation. By localizing production and adopting modular, prefabricated infrastructure, Railbus aims to reduce total deployment costs and bring modern transit to regions traditionally underserved by large-scale metro or rail systems.
“We believe that clean, autonomous mobility should not be a privilege of high-income cities alone,” added Dr. Geissah. “Our development hub embodies that belief by focusing on cost-efficiency, scalability, and inclusive design.”
The Railbus model has already garnered interest from multiple city authorities and transport ministries across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, where population growth and urbanization are outpacing current infrastructure.
Mrs. Mamta Shah, MD & CEO of Urban Infra Group, praised the announcement as a timely and disruptive move, “The Railbus Development Hub represents exactly the kind of frugal innovation the global mobility sector needs. As cities seek scalable, sustainable, and cost-conscious alternatives to expensive metro systems, Railbus offers a compelling proposition—especially for fast-growing Tier-2 cities across Asia and Africa. It’s a welcome evolution in transport thinking.”
With the launch of its Development Hub, Railbus is reinforcing its commitment to democratizing access to clean mobility. The initiative not only strengthens the company’s R&D capacity but also sets the stage for global collaborations, local manufacturing, and regional partnerships aimed at transforming the way the world moves.
As countries across the Global South look to leapfrog traditional infrastructure constraints, Railbus Inc. is positioning itself as a scalable, intelligent, and climate-resilient solution provider for tomorrow’s cities.
