The Salem Metro Rail Project, a proposed Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) under the ownership of the Government of Tamil Nadu, is set to transform transportation in the region. With a total network length of 35.46 km, this ambitious project is planned to have two lines: Line 1, spanning 17.16 km from Karapuranathar Temple to Ayodhyapattnam Railway Station via Ammapet, and Line 2, covering 18.3 km from Karuppur to Nallikalapatty via Salem Railway Station.
