The Salem Metro Rail Project, a proposed Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) under the ownership of the Government of Tamil Nadu, is set to transform transportation in the region. With a total network length of 35.46 km, this ambitious project is planned to have two lines: Line 1, spanning 17.16 km from Karapuranathar Temple to Ayodhyapattnam Railway Station via Ammapet, and Line 2, covering 18.3 km from Karuppur to Nallikalapatty via Salem Railway Station. The project aims to enhance connectivity and ease of travel for residents.
