Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has recently opened the financial bids for head-hardened rails supply contract package (CA-150) for Corridor 4 (Bhakti Park – Kasavadavali, 32.32 km) & 4A (Kasaravadavli – Gaimukh, 2.88 km) of Mumbai Metro Rail Project.
As per the information shared by MMRDA, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (JSPL) emerged as the preferred bidder for supply 9800 MT of head-hardened rails. JSPL has quoted Rs 110,32,06,580.00 to win this contract package.
Tender notice for supply of 9800 MT 60E1 (UIC-60), 1080 Grade Head Hardened (HH) Rails as per IRS T-12-2009 for Line-4 (Bhakti Park – Kasavadavali) and extension corridor (Kasaravadavli – Gaimukh) of Mumbai Metro Rail Project of MMRDA, Mumbai was invited November 2022 with 550 days delivery deadline. Only two bidders JSPL and Mitsui & Co. Ltd. have submitted their bids.
The 60E1 – 1080 grade head-hardened rails (HH Rails) is manufactured through a special heat treatment process to provide additional strength, lower residual stress, elongate track-life and minimize maintenance. JSPL is the only Indian rail manufacturer capable of producing these special tracks. With a capacity of producing 30,000 tonnes of head hardened rail per month, their rail plants is located in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh.
Mumbai Metro's Line-4/4A (Green line) will conect Wadala – Kasarvadavali – Gaimukh with 34 elevated metro stations.
