Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) along with Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL) comes bearing gifts this Maharashtra day for senior citizens, students and specially-abled commuters of the Mumbai metro. Frequent travellers from these 3 categories can now avail of a special benefit of a flat 25% base fair concession on the purchase of 45 trip / 60 trip passes through the Mumbai-1 card.
This facility is extended to Senior Citizens above 65 years, students studying till standard 12th & people with permanent disabilities. Passengers in these 3 categories who wish to avail of the benefits will have to provide valid documents like Govt/Medical association certificate for the specially-abled, Proof of age for senior citizens & school ID along with PAN (student or parent pan) for students. All these concessions can be availed on new & earlier purchased Mumbai-1 cards after furnishing the required set of documents at any counter on metro stations of metro lines 2A & 7. All these trips shall be prepaid for with a validity of 30 days.
Speaking on the occasion, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said “This is a gift we would like to extend towards our special commuters on the occasion of Maharashtra Day. We have built the Mumbai metro network keeping the needs & safety of senior Citizens, specially-abled people and kids in mind, so it’s imperative that they derive maximum benefit from these facilities. We hope these concessional passes shall incentivise people & encourage them to take the metro in more numbers."
Mumbai Metro commuters can get their Mumbai 1 National Common Mobility Card issued & recharged at the Mumbai Metro ticketing counter with easy documentation. This card can also be used at retail stores, petrol pumps & during BEST bus travel as well.
The Mumbai Metro line 2A connecting Dahisar E and DN Nagar (Yellow line) is around 18.6 Km long, while line 7 connecting Andheri E - Dahisar E (Red line) is around 16.5 Km long.
