NCRTC removes barricades from Roads in priority section of Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor

New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): The removal of barricading from the middle of the road in the 17-km priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor is almost complete. Almost all the barricading between Ghaziabad and Duhai has been removed from the road in this section and with this. wider roads are available for commuters in this section.

The 17 km stretch of the corridor comes under the priority section, having a total of 5 stations, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad. Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot. Barricading has already been removed between Sahibabad and Ghaziabad. Apart from this, a stretch of about 10 km from the Ghaziabad-Meerut tri-junction on the Delhi-Meerut road to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) at Duhai has three stations, Ghaziabad, Guldhar and Duhai RRTS stations. Viaduct construction between these stations has been completed and barricading under the viaduct has been removed.

At present, keeping in view the station construction, the area around all the station premises has been kept in a barricaded zone. Once the construction of the stations is complete, this entire section will soon be made completely barricading-free. The priority section will be operationalised this year only, at present test run of RRTS trains is being carried out here.

Apart from the priority section, the construction work is also progressing rapidly from Duhai to Meerut, and at the places where the viaduct construction is being completed, the work of removing barricading is also being done simultaneously for the convenience of the people. So far, barricading has been removed from about one-third of the area between Duhai to Shatabdi Nagar in Meerut.

With the removal of barricading in this area, a wider portion of the road has become available for the use of commuters, which has made it more convenient for them to travel back and forth from Delhi to Meerut. It is to be noted that before the construction work commenced, NCRTC had widened this road by 5-5 meters on both sides. With the barricading removed, commuters will now have the wider road at their disposal to use. In this section, the construction work of all three stations, Ghaziabad, Guldhar and Duhai is also in its final stage.

The plantation is also being done on the road dividers being constructed under the viaduct, to make the environment greener. A variety of plants including Bougainvillea and Tikoma are being planted here.

NCRTC, keeping the convenience of the commuters commuting on the roads in mind, is carrying out the entire construction work of the RRTS corridor in barricading zone only. Adequate arrangements have been made for the smooth flow of traffic. U-turns have been provided at various places with the help of local government agencies. Apart from this, an adequate number of traffic marshals have also been appointed and their numbers are increased as per the need so that people do not face any kind of problem.

Safety in the construction work zone is the priority for the NCRTC, and it is ensuring adequate safety measures for not only the personnel at the construction site but also the passengers passing by. Despite the huge machines and work at the construction site, all the work is being done at a rapid pace with proper arrangements for safety and security.
