Patel Infrastructure casts final segment of Package CS1 for Surat Metro Rail Project

Surat, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant development for the Surat Metro Phase 1 project, Patel Infrastructure achieved a crucial milestone by casting the final 8.5m wide box segment on March 9. This final segment is essential for the construction of the viaduct in Package CS1, covering the stretch between Kadarsha Ni Nal and Dream City, constituting a vital part of the 11.6 km Line 1.

The 21.61 km Line-1, connecting Sarthana to Dream City, follows the route along Bhatar Road and Althan Road. The recorded achievement comes 25 months after casting works commenced at Patel Infrastructure's yard in Budiya village, located just east of the ongoing construction of the Dream City Depot by ITD Cementation India.

The construction contract for Package CS1 was awarded to the Sadbhav Engineering – SP Singla Constructions (SEL – SPSCPL) joint venture by the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited (GMRCL) in January 2021. With a 30-month deadline, the consortium subcontracted a portion of the works to Patel Infrastructure, contributing to the overall progress of the project.

Package CS1 includes the construction of ten elevated stations at key locations, including Kadarsha Ni Nal, Majura Gate (interchange with Line-2 connecting Bhesan – Saroli), Rupali Canal, Althan Tenament, Althan Gam, VIP Road, Woman ITI, Bhimrad, Convention Center, and Dream City.

Despite the concerted efforts, the construction timeline appears to be slightly behind schedule, as the initial deadline for completion was set for July 2023. However, with the casting of the final box segment, Patel Infrastructure has reached a crucial phase in the execution of Package CS1, contributing to the broader vision of enhancing metro connectivity in Surat.

This accomplishment underscores the ongoing progress in India's metro rail expansion, highlighting the collaborative efforts of multiple stakeholders in delivering transformative infrastructure projects.
