Hyderabad, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant move aimed at transforming the state's transportation landscape, the Telangana Cabinet has recently announced major plans, with a focus on expanding the metro rail network. The ambitious project is expected to revolutionize urban commuting and propel the state towards a more sustainable and efficient future.

Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Telangana Cabinet unveiled its blueprint for an extensive metro rail expansion that will cover key areas within the state. The proposed project comes as a response to the ever-increasing population and the need for improved public transportation systems.

One of the highlights of the expansion plan is the commitment to connect new areas and neighborhoods to the existing metro rail network. This strategic approach aims to ensure seamless connectivity and reduce travel time for millions of residents. Additionally, it is expected to ease traffic congestion on the roads, addressing a long-standing concern for commuters.

 Here are the list of all proposeed and approved metro extension corridors by the Chief Minister of Telangana:

1. BHEL - Patancheruvu - ORR - Isnapur (Elevated Metro, 13km, 8 stations) - ₹3,250 crore

2. L. B. Nagar - Hayathnagar - Pedda Amberpet (Elevated Metro, 13km, 8 stations) - ₹3,250 crore

3. Shamshabad jn Metro Stn. - Kothur - Shadnagar (Elevated Metro, 28km, 6 stations) - ₹6,800 crore

4. Uppal - ORR - Ghatkesar - Bibinagar (Elevated Metro, 25km, 10 stations) - ₹6,900 crore

5. Shamshabad Airport - Tukkuguda ORR - Maheshwaram X road - Kandukur (Elevated Metro, 26km, 8 stations) - ₹6,600 crore

6. Tarnaka - ECIL (Elevated Metro, 8km, 5 stations) - 2,300 crore

7.Double Elevated Flyover / Metro from JBS to Tumkunta (Double Elevated, 17km, 13 stations) ₹5,690 crore

8. Double Elevated Flyover / Metro from Paradise Metro Rail Station Kandlakoya (Double Elevated, 12km, 10 stations) - ₹4,400 crore

9. ORR Shamshabad Jn (NH44) - Thukkuguda Jn - Bongulur Jn - Pedda Amberpet Jn (NH65) (Elevated / Atgrade, 40km, 5 stations) - ₹5,600 crore

10. ORR Pedda Amberpet Jn (NH65) - Ghatkesar Jn - Shamirpet Jn - Medchal Jn (NH44) (Elevated / Atgrade, 45km, 5 stations) - ₹6,750 crore

11. ORR Medchal Jn (NH44) - Dundigal Jn - Patancheruvu Jn (NH65) (Elevated / Atgrade, 29km, 3 stations) - ₹4,785 crore

12. ORR Patancheruvu Jn (NH65) - Koapet Jn - Narsngi Jn (Elevated / Atgrade, 22km, 3 stations) - ₹3,675 crore

13. Bhel - Lakdikapul - Nagole Nagar - Old City (Elevated / Atgrade, 36.5km, 3 stations) - ₹9,100 crore

With this, Hyderabad will have a total Metro Rail network of 475km once the above proposed corridors implemented on the ground. The total estimated cost of the above corridors would be ₹69,100 crore.

"With 69 km of operational metro; 31 km of Airport Metro; 31 km of BHEL-LAKDIKAPUL with Miyapur connection & Nagole-LB Nagar connectivity; 5.5 km of old city metro & 278 km of the new 8 extension & 4 ORR Metro Corridors, metro coverage in Hyderabad will be about 415km," said NVS Reddy, Managing Director, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited.
