Two firms bid for ticketing system consultancy for Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Line

New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): DB Engineering and Consulting GmbH and SYSTRA MVA Consulting (India) Pvt. Ltd. are vying for the prestigious contract to serve as the ticketing system consultant for the Mumbai – Ahmedabad High-Speed Bullet Train project. With a length of 508 kilometers, this project represents a significant advancement in India's transportation infrastructure.

The selected consultant will play a pivotal role in shaping the ticketing system for this groundbreaking project. They will meticulously analyze existing Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) systems deployed globally to determine the most efficient and effective solution for MAHSR. Their expertise will be instrumental in providing recommendations to the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), the employer overseeing the project.

One of the key responsibilities of the chosen consultant will be to develop a comprehensive cost estimate for the ticketing system. This estimate will be crucial for NHSRCL in budgeting and financial planning. Additionally, the consultant will assist NHSRCL in the intricate process of procuring the ticketing system, from inviting bids to evaluating proposals. Their thorough understanding of the industry will ensure that NHSRCL makes informed decisions throughout the bidding process.

The consultancy contract, which was tendered by NHSRCL in November 2023, spans 365 days. While the exact value of the contract remains undisclosed, it is speculated to be around Rs. 9.04 crore. The technical bids, submitted by DB and SYSTRA, were opened in February, confirming them as the sole contenders for the contract.

NHSRCL's objective for this consultancy is clear: to select a consultant capable of delivering excellence in the design and implementation of the ticketing system for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project. The technical evaluation of the bids is currently underway, with a focus on assessing the capabilities and experience of the bidding firms.

Upon completion of the technical evaluation, the financial bids of the qualified contenders will be assessed to determine the lowest bidder. This meticulous evaluation process ensures that NHSRCL selects a consultant who not only meets the technical requirements but also offers competitive pricing.

The bidding process for the ticketing system consultant contract for the Mumbai – Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project underscores India's commitment to enhancing its transportation infrastructure. With DB Engineering and Consulting GmbH and SYSTRA MVA Consulting (India) Pvt. Ltd. in contention, NHSRCL is poised to select a consultant who will contribute significantly to the success of this transformative project.
