Vikas Chaube appointed as Director (Transport, Safety & Marketing) at NHSRCL

New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): Vikas Chaube officially assumed his role as Director (Transport, Safety & Marketing) at the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) with effect from 24th July 2024. Chaube, an esteemed officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) from the 1996 batch, brings a wealth of experience to this pivotal position.

Prior to this appointment, Chaube served as the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Malda Division under Eastern Railway. His extensive background includes significant roles and responsibilities across various segments of railway operations and management.

Chaube is an accomplished academic, holding a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee. He further pursued a Master of Technology at IIT Delhi and a postgraduate diploma in Financial Management, underscoring his strong technical and managerial expertise.

Throughout his career, Shri Chaube has amassed considerable experience in freight and passenger train operations, infrastructure planning, commercial functions, and general administration. His roles have spanned across both divisional and headquarters positions within Northern Railway, as well as significant contributions to the Railway Board.

Key Contributions and Roles

As the Senior Divisional Operations Manager (Sr. DOM) for the Lucknow Division, Shri Chaube played a crucial role in designing yard plans for several key stations, including Varanasi. His expertise extended to positions such as Chief Freight Transportation Manager for Northern Railway, Chief Commercial Manager (CCM) of Station Development, and Chief Project Manager for Systems/FOIS.

In his role as Joint Secretary of Rail Logistics Coordination in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Chaube was instrumental in the launch of PM GatiShakti and the development of the recently unveiled National Logistics Policy.

Training and Teaching Experience

Shri Chaube's professional development includes training in various international locations such as Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, and domestic training in Vadodara and Nagpur. He has also contributed to the academic field as a visiting faculty member at several renowned institutions, including the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), and the Indian Railway Institute of Transportation Management (IRITM).

Personal Interests

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Chaube is an avid sportsman with a passion for tennis and cricket, having played at the university level.
