Becquerel emerges as Lowest Bidder for two Geotechnical contracts of Bangalore Metro Phase 3

Bengaluru, India (Metro Rail Today): The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has declared Becquerel Industries Private Limited as the lowest bidder for two major geotechnical investigation contracts associated with the elevated portions of the upcoming Bangalore Metro Phase 3A project. Both packages involve essential soil investigation and sub-surface analysis required for the design and construction of the Sarjapur–Hebbal metro corridor, one of Bengaluru’s most anticipated mobility expansions.

The first contract, valued at ₹1.60 crore with a completion period of 150 days, covers the geotechnical investigation for the elevated section between Sarjapura Station and Carmelaram Station, extending from chainage 0.496 km to 10.356 km. The tender attracted several leading geotechnical firms, but Becquerel Industries emerged as the lowest bidder, matching the estimated cost and outperforming competitors such as RITES Limited, Civilmantra Infracon, Space Engineers Consortium, IDAX Consulting, and Bureau Veritas.

The second contract, valued at ₹1.26 crore, involves geotechnical investigation for the stretch between Carmelaram Station and the Null Point near Koramangala 3rd Block Station, covering chainage 10.356 km to 19.578 km. Becquerel Industries again led the competition with the lowest quote, edging past Civilmantra Infracon, Mercury Engineering Consultancy, RITES, IDAX Consulting, and other prominent engineering firms. Both packages have been labelled as “potential AOC,” indicating that formal award of contract is expected shortly.

These investigations will play a crucial role in shaping Bangalore Metro Phase 3A, a 36.6 km long corridor designed to significantly enhance connectivity between the rapidly urbanising Sarjapur region in southeast Bengaluru and Hebbal in the north. The corridor comprises approximately 22.14 km of elevated alignment and 14.45 km of underground stretches, with a total of 28 stations planned. With an estimated project cost of ₹28,400 crore, Phase 3A is expected to be operational by 2036, forming a major backbone in the city’s long-term urban mobility strategy.

With the identification of the lowest bidders for both geotechnical packages, BMRCL has taken a key step toward initiating the groundwork for Phase 3A, bringing the project closer to construction readiness.
