Gurugram, India (Metro Rail Today): In a key step toward expanding the city's metro network, Gurgaon Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has issued a tender for geotechnical investigation work for Phase 2 of the Gurgaon Metro project. This development follows the tendering of Phase 1 and marks the beginning of detailed preparatory work for the metro’s next phase.
Phase 2 of the Gurgaon Metro will cover approximately 16 kilometers, connecting Sector 9 Metro Station to Cyber City, with a total of 14 planned metro stations. The extended corridor is expected to enhance urban connectivity across key residential and commercial zones, strengthening public transport infrastructure in the Millennium City.
Estimated Tender Value: ₹71.25 lakh
Completion Timeline: 60 days from work allotment
Bid Submission Deadline: June 12, 2025
The selected contractor will be responsible for conducting comprehensive geotechnical investigations along the proposed elevated metro corridor. This includes soil and rock classification, laboratory and field test analysis, foundation recommendations, and the preparation of a detailed technical report.
The tender outlines the following tasks as part of the geotechnical study:
Drilling boreholes through soil and rock strata
Conducting Standard Penetration Tests (SPT)
Collecting and testing soil and rock samples
Monitoring groundwater levels along the alignment
Preparing a design report including foundation recommendations and soil profiles
Investigations will be carried out at 1 km intervals along the corridor to support accurate engineering design and construction planning.
In parallel, GMRL recently received bids from eight firms under package CC-01 for the construction of 14 elevated stations and viaducts under Phase 1, stretching from Millennium City Centre to Sector 9. The alignment spans from chainage (-)594m to 12,603m, with additional features such as:
A 1.85 km spur connecting to Dwarka Expressway
A ramp to the Sector 33 depot
Additionally, a 28.8 km new line with 27 stations, connecting Millennium City Centre to Cyber City, is planned as part of Gurgaon’s long-term metro vision, promising seamless integration with existing and future transit infrastructure.
