Colossus Infra awarded E&M Contract for Pune Metro’s PCMC–Nigdi Corridor

Pune, India (Metro Rail Today): Colossus Infra Projects Pvt. Ltd. has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) for executing Electrical, Mechanical, Elevators, and Escalators works for the PCMC–Nigdi corridor of the Pune Metro Rail Project. The contract is valued at ₹78.5 crore and carries a completion timeline of 672 days.

Maha-Metro had invited bids for the package, with technical bids opened on 29 August 2025. Only one firm participated in the tender process. The financial bid was opened on 2 September 2025, and following evaluation completed on 12 February 2026, Colossus Infra Projects was declared the lowest bidder and subsequently awarded the LoA.

The scope of work includes design verification, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of Electrical and Mechanical systems, along with elevators and escalators at the elevated stations of the PCMC–Nigdi corridor. The package is crucial to ensuring operational readiness, passenger convenience, and safety across the new extension.

The PCMC–Nigdi stretch forms the northern extension of Pune Metro’s Purple Line. This extension spans 4.413 km and includes four elevated stations. The original Purple Line, which runs from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Swargate, is already operational over a length of 16.59 km with 12 stations.

To further enhance connectivity, Maha-Metro is executing both northern and southern extensions of the Purple Line. While the northern extension from PCMC to Nigdi is currently under construction, the southern extension from Swargate to Katraj, spanning approximately 5.464 km with three stations, is under implementation.

The PCMC–Nigdi extension is expected to strengthen connectivity in Pune’s rapidly expanding northern suburbs, improving commuter access and supporting transit-oriented development along the corridor.

Commenting on the development, Mrs. Mamta Shah, MD & CEO, Urban Infra Group, said, “Awarding key E&M packages is a vital step in transitioning metro corridors from civil construction to operational readiness. The PCMC–Nigdi extension will significantly enhance last-mile connectivity in Pune’s growth corridors, and timely execution of system works will be critical to maintaining project momentum.”

With system contracts now progressing, the northern extension of Pune Metro’s Purple Line moves closer to completion, further expanding the city’s urban mobility network.
