Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): Colossus Infra Projects Pvt. Ltd. has recently been awarded a contract valued at Rs. 33.95 crore for electrical and mechanical works at five stations of Mumbai Metro's 23.6 km Line-2B (Yellow Line), which connects DN Nagar to Mandale via BKC. The five elevated stations included in this contract are Diamond Nagar, Shivaji-Chowk, BSNL, Mankhurd, and Mandale.
The civil construction contract for these stations (Package CA-07) was awarded to NCC Ltd. in April 2019, after several rounds of re-bidding. The construction work saw its first set of U-girders launched in January 2020.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) had invited bids for the electrical and mechanical works contract (Package CA-249) in February 2024, with an estimated budget of ₹30.04 crore and a deadline of 1008 days (approximately 2.7 years). The technical bids were opened on May 31, revealing two bidders, with their financial bids opened on June 18.
Despite Colossus's bid being 18.50% higher than MMRDA's estimate, negotiations led to an agreed final contract value of ₹33,95,06,966 (₹33.95 crore). The scope of the contract includes the design, manufacture, supply, testing, commissioning, and training of personnel, along with a 2-year defect liability period (DLP) for the E&M works of Line 2B from Mandale to Diamond Garden.
In addition to this, Johnson Lifts has been awarded two contracts for the Mandale – Diamond Garden section:
The Mandale – Diamond Garden section, featuring the five stations, is expected to be the first section to open on Line-2B, with the opening projected no sooner than Q1 2026.
