Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): In a momentous ceremony, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Eknath Shinde, laid the foundation stone for Mumbai Metro Line 12 (Orange Line), connecting Kalyan to Taloja. The event was graced by the presence of Deputy Chief Ministers Shri Devendra Fadnavis and Shri Ajit Pawar. This strategic initiative is set to redefine connectivity in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), fostering development and economic growth.

The Mumbai Metro Line 12, an extension of Metro Line 5 from Kalyan, aims to enhance interconnectivity within Mumbai's extensive metro network. Comprising 19 elevated stations over a length of 22.173 km, this INR 5,865 Crore project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. The primary objective is to significantly reduce travel time between Kalyan and Taloja, benefiting commuters traveling to South Mumbai, Thane, Mira-Bhayender, Virar, and Navi Mumbai.

Upon completion, Metro Line 12 promises a remarkable 45-minute reduction in travel duration between Kalyan and Taloja. This improved connectivity extends to Navi Mumbai, opening doors for unprecedented inter-regional travel. The project not only generates employment opportunities during construction but also facilitates new job prospects during its operational phase, contributing to the economic growth of the MMR.

The strategic expansion of connectivity between Kalyan and Taloja is poised to catalyze a new wave of development. The Mumbai Metro Line 12 project boasts a length of 22.173 km, with 19 elevated stations and an estimated completion cost of ₹5,865 Crores. The projected daily ridership is expected to reach 2.62 lakh passengers by 2031-2032. The completion deadline is set for 30th December 2027, marking a significant milestone in Mumbai's metro expansion. The salient features of Mumbai Metro Line 12 are as under:-
