New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): Delhi and its surrounding regions are set to experience a wave of enhanced connectivity as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) unveils plans to extend the forthcoming Rithala-Narela Metro corridor of Phase IV all the way to Kundli in Haryana. This ambitious undertaking aims to bridge the transportation gap between the national capital and its neighboring state, providing a substantial boost to accessibility.
The proposed Rithala-Narela-Kundli Metro corridor marks the fourth expansion of the city's rapid transit system into Haryana, following successful ventures into Gurugram (Yellow Line), Faridabad (Violet Line), and Bahadurgarh (Green Line). Acting as a seamless extension of the currently operational Shaheed Sthal-Rithala Red Line corridor, this new expansion will usher in a host of benefits for commuters.
Spanning a considerable length of 27.319 kilometers, the extended Red Line will journey all the way to Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, expertly weaving through the prominent areas of central and east Delhi. To ensure convenient access for passengers, a total of 22 stations have been proposed along this expansive corridor, with 21 stations situated at an elevated level and one at grade.
The planned stations on the Rithala-Narela-Kundli Metro corridor include Rithala, Rohini Sector 25, Rohini Sector 26, Rohini Sector 31, Rohini Sector 32, Rohini Sector 36, Barwala, Rohini Sector 35, Rohini Sector 34, Bawana Industrial Area – 1 (Sector 3, 4), Bawana Industrial Area – 1 (Sector 1, 2), Bawana JJ Colony, Sanoth, New Sanoth, Depot Station, Bhorgarh village, Anaj Mandi Narela, Narela DDA Sports Complex, Narela, Narela Sector 5, Kundli and Nathupur.
To cater to the initial demand for transportation, the DMRC plans to operate four-coach trains on this extended corridor, with provisions in place for eight-coach trains in the future. At the outset, the stations will be designed to accommodate four-coach trains, ensuring efficient and convenient travel for commuters.
Of significant importance is the fact that the Rithala-Narela-Kundli Metro corridor will mark the DMRC's inaugural venture connecting Uttar Pradesh and Haryana via the national capital. This landmark development will prove especially beneficial for residents who plan to invest in the newly launched housing schemes by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in Narela. The metro link will offer invaluable assistance to the inhabitants of these burgeoning residential colonies, paralleling the earlier success of the Delhi Metro's connectivity to Dwarka in expanding accessibility to the sub-city.
Excitement and anticipation mount as Delhi-NCR gears up for this monumental expansion of the metro network. The Rithala-Narela-Kundli Metro corridor promises to revolutionize connectivity, fostering seamless travel and contributing to the region's growth and development.
