Noida, India (Metro Rail Today): The Uttar Pradesh Government has appointed Dr. Lokesh M, an officer of 2005-batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS), as new Managing Director (MD) of Noida Metro Rail Corporation Limited vice Smt. Ritu Maheshwari. Dr. Lokesh will also work as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Noida Authority. He took charges on bothy key posts from Smt. Ritu Maheshwari with effect from 25th July 2023.
After taking his charge as CEO of Noida Authority and Managing Director of NMRC, Lokesh M held a meeting with officials. He highlighted that industrial growth and a better public hearing system would be his key priorities. He further said that his focus will be on building a better public hearing system and addressing issues of allottees, farmers and citizen grievances.
He also directed NMRC officials to focus on increasing ridership and non-fare revenue. He also suggested finding a new nickname for the Noida-Greater Noida Metro Corridor (Aqua Line) and exploring options for multi-modal connectivity, potentially using e-rickshaws for commuters.
Before his posting in Noida, Dr Lokesh M was posted in Kanpur as divisional commissioner.
A native of Karnataka, Lokesh M completed his training from Aligarh in 2006. He was District Magistrate and collector of Mainpuri, Kushinagar, Etah, Ghazipur, Amroha and Kaushambi districts from 2009 to 2016. He was on deputation to Karnataka from 2016 to 2021, after which he was made the Divisional Commissioner of Saharanpur before getting posted as Agra commissioner on May 31. He recently served as Kanpur Commissioner before joining as Noida Authority CEO and NMRC MD.
