New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): Himcon Engineers India Pvt. Ltd. has emerged as the lowest bidder for the architectural finishing works at four underground stations on the Golden Line (Line-10) of Delhi Metro. The contract, designated as DC-09A, includes the finishing works for Chhattarpur Station, Chhattarpur Mandir Station, IGNOU Station, and Neb Sarai Station. These stations are part of the 23.622 km Golden Line, which will connect Aerocity to Tughlakabad, passing through 15 stations.
The DC-09A contract is part of the larger Phase 4 expansion of the Delhi Metro. The underground work for these stations is being handled by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) under Package DC-09, which is part of the 112 km Phase 4 project. The construction of the underground section, connecting Kishangarh Station to the Saket Ramp, is financed through a ₹8,390 crore loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
DMRC had invited bids for the DC-09A contract in June 2024, with a 2-year completion deadline. The financial bids were opened after technical evaluations on September 25, revealing 9 bidders. Among them, Himcon Engineers India Pvt. Ltd. offered the lowest bid of ₹61.29 crore, surpassing competitors such as Kamal and Associates (₹64.90 crore) and SS Constructions (₹67.28 crore).
The scope of DC-09A involves comprehensive architectural finishing works at the four underground stations, which are crucial stops along the Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor of the Golden Line. DMRC’s brief includes all aspects of station architecture, from walls and flooring to other critical finishing elements that will ensure the stations are ready for operation once the tunnels are completed.
Himcon’s potential contract win marks the company’s second involvement in Delhi Metro Phase 4, following their previous work on the Mukundpur Depot’s remodeling under Package DC-27. The Golden Line's underground construction, particularly Package DC-09, is currently one of the most advanced. Larsen & Toubro has already completed 4 out of 10 tunnel breakthroughs, with the latest breakthrough recorded in October.
As the project moves forward, commercial operations on the Golden Line are expected to commence no sooner than mid-2027.
If awarded, the DC-09A contract will reinforce Himcon’s growing role in Delhi’s metro infrastructure development. The company’s competitive bid will now be reviewed, and the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) is expected to be issued soon, marking a key milestone in the ongoing expansion of Delhi Metro’s Golden Line.
