DMRC appoints Sanjay Jamuar as First CEO of Delhi Metro International Limited
New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): In a groundbreaking move aimed at enhancing passenger convenience, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) have joined forces through a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration paves the way for the introduction of QR code-based ticketing for DMRC services via the IRCTC portal, heralding the "One India-One Ticket Initiative."
Under the purview of this innovative partnership, passengers availing online bookings on the IRCTC platform for trains, air travel, or buses can now seamlessly secure DMRC QR code-based tickets. Aligned with the Indian Railways' Advance Reservation Period, travelers can now seamlessly chart their entire journey in one seamless transaction. The DMRC QR code tickets will be seamlessly integrated into the Electronic Reservation Slip (ERS) of IRCTC, incurring a modest platform fee of just Rs 5/-. This integration is poised to streamline travel, obviating the need for protracted queues and conserving valuable time.
Smt. Seema Kumar, Chairperson & Managing Director of IRCTC, underlined the significance of this pioneering union, saying, "The 'One India-One Ticket Initiative' embodies our resolute commitment to simplifying ticketing processes and augmenting the overall travel experience for Delhi region passengers. Through this DMRC MoU, we are effectively working towards unifying various transportation modes, ultimately translating into unparalleled advantages for travelers."
Echoing this sentiment, Vikas Kumar, Managing Director of DMRC, affirmed, "Our partnership with IRCTC marks a momentous juncture, seamlessly dovetailing with our mission to provide integrated and seamless transport solutions to our esteemed DMRC commuters. This initiative will not only furnish passengers with a hassle-free experience but also tangibly alleviate congestion at DMRC stations, curbing reliance on conventional ticketing methods."
This landmark MoU heralds a transformative era for travel in the Delhi region, redefining benchmarks for convenience, efficiency, and connectivity. This collective endeavor underscores the unwavering dedication of both entities to cater to passenger requisites within an increasingly interconnected world.
