On July 22, 2024, Jakson Ltd. was declared the lowest bidder for Chennai Metro Line-5’s electrical & mechanical (E&M), fire protection, ventilation, and air-conditioning contract C5-EM-03 by Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. (CMRL).
Project Overview
Chennai Metro’s new 44.6 km Line-5, part of the Phase 2 project, will run in a north-south orientation, connecting Madhavaram Milk Colony to Sholinganallur.
Scope of Package EM-03
The scope of Package EM-03 in north Chennai includes:
- System works at 10 elevated stations
- System works at 6 underground stations
- Underground tunnels between Kolathur and Nathamuni stations
- Viaduct between Madhavaram Milk Colony and Grain Market (Koyambedu Market) stations
The underground section is currently under construction by Tata Projects under Package UG-06, while the elevated section is being constructed by Larsen & Toubro under Package C5-EV-03.
Tender and Bid Details
CMRL invited tenders for this systems contract in August 2023 with an unknown estimate and a completion deadline of 1910 days (5.2 years). Technical bids were opened in February 2024, revealing five bidders.
