New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): Jean-Charles Vollery has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SYSTRA Group, marking a new chapter for the leading engineering and consultancy firm in transport infrastructure. Vollery, who has been part of the Executive Board since 2019 and previously served as Chief Operating Officer, now steps into the CEO role alongside Arnaud Jeudy, Chief Finance and Administration Officer. This leadership change comes after Latour Capital and Fimalac acquired a 58% stake in SYSTRA, with continued support from long-standing shareholders SNCF Group and RATP Group. Vollery takes over from Pierre Verzat, who previously led the company as CEO.
With an extensive background in civil engineering, Vollery brings over 30 years of expertise in transport infrastructure. Specializing in bridges, he holds degrees from HEI and CHEC and has been integral to numerous high-profile global projects, including metro systems, conventional railways, high-speed railways, and motorways. Vollery’s career with SYSTRA began in 1996 when he contributed to projects in South Korea and China. He later served as Managing Director of SYSTRA India from 2007, playing a crucial role in India’s rapidly expanding infrastructure sector. His career has also seen him hold key leadership positions as Senior Vice President for Asia-Pacific, Chief International & Development Officer, and Chief Operating Officer.
On his appointment, Jean-Charles Vollery expressed his excitement: “It is an honour to lead SYSTRA at such an exciting time in our journey. My priority will be to drive growth, focus on client satisfaction, and enhance the well-being of our teams. Together, we will work to strengthen SYSTRA’s position as a global leader in sustainable mobility.”
SYSTRA’s influence in India has been vital in transforming the country’s urban infrastructure. The company has been appointed as the Detailed Design Consultant for significant projects, including expanding the Gurugram Metro and Bhubaneswar Metro Phase 1. SYSTRA is also leading the redevelopment of Ahmedabad Railway Station in collaboration with Mace and recently won a major contract for Project Management Consultancy Services (PMS) for the Redevelopment of New Delhi Railway Station.
Hari Somalraju, CEO of SYSTRA India, commented on Vollery’s appointment: "Jean-Charles Vollery has been an inspiring leader, and we are eager to continue our work under his guidance. His leadership has been pivotal to our success in India, and we look forward to contributing even more to the country’s infrastructure development and delivering world-class transportation solutions.” He also highlighted India’s strategic focus on digitalization, sustainability, and smart mobility as part of the company’s broader goals.
SYSTRA Group, with over 11,000 employees across 80 countries, continues to lead the way in sustainable mobility and public transport.
