To facilitate the smooth execution of Phase II, MMRDA has invited tenders for the appointment of a General Consultant.

Mumbai Metro Line 5 spanning from Thane to Bhiwandi to Kalyan encompasses a 24.90 km elevated corridor comprising 15 stations. This line will play a crucial role in providing seamless connectivity between the ongoing Mumbai Metro Line 4 (Wadala to Kasarvadavli), the proposed Mumbai Metro Line 12 (Kalyan to Taloja), and the existing Central Railway network. By offering rail-based access to commercial hubs, government establishments, and prominent landmarks in Thane, Bhiwandi, and Kalyan, it is expected to significantly reduce travel times by up to 75%.
The Mumbai Metro Line 5 Project entails the construction of a 24.90 km elevated viaduct, 14 stations, and a depot. Additionally, the project includes various system components such as rolling stock, signalling, telecommunications, platform screen doors, electrical and mechanical systems, automatic fare collection, overhead equipment, traction, power supply, SCADA, lifts, escalators, and depot machinery and plant.
