Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): Mumbai Metro One’s “Incubator of Innovations” has brought many first in Mass Rapid Transit Systems and all of these are centered on Commuter Experience. Ticketing products like Bank Combo Cards, Mobile QR Ticket and loyalty program – Metro Rewards are leading among them. Now, Mumbai Metro One has launched an e-ticketing facility on the WhatsApp Mobile App which is the first kind of service in the world.
Now, commuters of Mumbai Metro One will be able to travel seamlessly using e-Ticket in three simple steps - (1) WhatsApp “Hi” to 9670008889 or Scan QR (2) Share OTP at Ticket Counter, and (3) Use e-Ticket for travel. This is part of the Go Green initiative launched by Mumbai Metro One.
"This product is an extension of the “Paper QR Ticket” currently available through our ticket counters and is targeted at commuters (more than 100,000 daily) who use cash to buy a daily ticket (valid for that day). These commuters will now be able to experience digital ticketing on the most popular & widely used App – WhatsApp. After having gained confidence in using e-Ticket, these commuters will be able to pay digitally in the future using WhatsApp itself; thus avoiding daily visits to the ticket counter," said the statement issued by Mumbai Metro One.
A few advantages of this product are:
a) Accessible: Available on WhatsApp
b) Reliable: e-Tickets will not be affected by any weather conditions. No fear of losing a ticket.
c) Convenience: Easy use at automatic gates.
d) Faster Transaction: 2 times faster than the current system of ticketing. Thus, saving the valuable time of our metro commuters.
e) Informative: Journey details like type (single/return journey), origin & destination stations, fare, date & time of issuance will be available.
