Paras Railtech wins Track Work Contract of Mumbai Metro Line 6

Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): In a decisive move, Paras Railtech emerges as the lowest bidder for the critical track work contract MT-09R on Mumbai Metro's Line-6 (Pink Line). This 15.18 km corridor, connecting Swami Samarth Nagar (Lokhandwala) to Vikhroli via 13 elevated stations, is a pivotal part of Mumbai's expanding metro network.

Project Overview

Executed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), Line-6 is currently under construction by J Kumar Infraprojects (Packages BC-01R1 & BC-03) and MBZ – EIIL JV (Package BC-02R) since 2019. The scope of work for this contract involves the supply and installation of ballastless tracks, a critical component ensuring the metro line's operational efficiency.

Retendering Background

This contract underwent a retendering process after the DMRC's initial tender invitation in August 2021. The process was halted in September 2021 due to "administrative reasons." Subsequently, DMRC reinvited bids in August 2023 with an estimated cost of Rs. 96.34 crores and a 2-year deadline. The technical bids, opened in September, revealed four contenders for the contract.

Financial Bid Values

  1. Paras Railtech Ltd: Rs 80.49 crores
  2. Texmaco Rail and Engineering Ltd: Rs 84.23 crores
  3. Apurvakriti Infrastructure Ltd: Rs 87.34 crores
  4. Rahee Infratech Ltd: Rs 91.85 crores

Paras Railtech's winning bid of Rs. 80.48 crores stands at a remarkable 16.46% below DMRC's estimate, indicating a swift contract award process in the coming weeks.

Paras Railtech's Track Record

This victory marks Paras Railtech's second successful bid in Mumbai this year, following their earlier win for Line-5A's Package CA-166 during the summer. Their proven expertise in track installation positions them as a reliable contributor to Mumbai's metro infrastructure.

Mumbai Metro Line 6's Track Work Contracts

  1. Package MT-08: Awarded to Pandrol Rahee Technologies in May 2021 for Line-6's track fastening system.
  2. Package CT-38: Awarded to Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL) in January 2021 for supplying 1500 MT of Class "A" 880 Grade Rails to Kanjurmarg Depot.

The progression of Line 6 has faced delays since the awarding of civil construction contracts in 2019. With the pending retender notice for its 108-coach rolling stock contract, the initiation of trial runs is anticipated to be at least two years away.

Paras Railtech's successful bid for MT-09R underscores its pivotal role in advancing Mumbai's metro connectivity. As the city looks forward to enhanced transportation infrastructure, Paras Railtech's contribution is poised to play a crucial part in the successful execution of Mumbai Metro Line-6.
